OnForce Name Change
December 29th, 2005 by dana2005 was a great year for ComputerRepair.com. We saw tremendous growth both in our Client base as well as in our network of Service Providers. To our Service Providers and our Clients, *thank you*. We believe 2006 will be even better, and we have plans for growing our business and generating even faster growth for our Provider Network. Part of those plans includes a decision to change our name from ComputerRepair.com to *OnForce*.
A great deal of thought has gone into deciding to change our company name. It’s a big deal, after all, since we’ve spent time and money building recognition around the ComputerRepair.com name. Besides being really long to type, the ComputerRepair.com name was creating some challenges for our team. It took 15 minutes to get new clients to understand that our providers did more than just fix computers. Why entrust the installation of a Cisco router to a computer repair technician? They needed professionals who were able to solve complex problems and provide answers to their end users. At the same time, our professional service providers were frustrated that everyone thought they were break/fix specialists only. Some service providers specialize in this type of work, but others wanted work that was more specialized and complex.
As we listened to both sides of the marketplace, we realized that both were saying the same things in different ways. The ComputerRepair.com name was a limitation in what they were willing or able to do through the platform.
What could we do to remedy this situation? Change the name.
So we did.
Now we are *OnForce*. Our new name tells the story of who we are today and who we hope to become. On-Site Service. On Demand. On Your Terms. Online. So much of what we do is “on.” And our platform is powered by the best, most qualified force of professional service providers around the country. It’s a variable workforce for clients. It’s a force to be reckoned with. It’s a force in the industry, ready to change the way technology services are delivered. *OnForce*.
So welcome to the new *OnForce*. And welcome to 2006.

Good use of a Name for the company. May companies don’t get that in depth to the meaning of a name. Matrix Structures was created from the nomenclature of Structuring Data. Good Name with a Good Story!
If you haven’t reminded everybody that uses the old Computer Repair Logo for there websites to change it to the new logo. I would also suggest you put a REMINDER below the post that leads to this page.

Love the new look.
Best of success with the new name and its future.
Best of success to our many providers who have made this venture a success.
While Jeff and the staff of ComputerRepair have provided the engine it is the providers who have been the source of fuel that have allowed the prosperity and success to continue. Hopefully that will not be forgotten.

Great name, it makes a lot more sense.
It has been a good year and I look forward to another great year ahead.
happy new Year to all.

I was taken by surprise this morning to see the name change, but I must admit, I like it better. I wish I’d thought of it.
I am looking forward to the New Year and am ready to work!

I applaud your desire to expand our provider footprint. Being one of those providers that enjoy a wide range of assignments. I look forward to working with and providing this new level of service from the same committed staff from Computer Repair.

Your name change was a pleasant suprise. ONFORCE is a professional and powerful name. Thank you for your provider support, and together, we are going to continue to produce growth and success.

I took a hiatus for a couple of weeks and you guys go and re-decorate the place! I like the new name, I’m sure the switch will go smoothly, I’m just not sure I like THAT green.
Congrats on a great year and thank you for building a platform that actually works.

With Kevin Gilroy from HP now in the leadership team of ‘OnForce’, maybe we can openly compete with HP sub-K’s like Northrup-Grumman and Halifax using the talented and HP Trained, HP retirees that weren’t really ready to retire. There are many of us from HP’s Field Service, who’s old customers are not happy with their ‘off the street’ service people that HP is now providing. Many of us have Storage Area Network, Enterprise Virtual Array, Raid and legacy Digital/Compaq/HP system skillsets that are ready to use. Many of my retiree peers would be happy to have the work and customer relationships. Myself, I have had a couple of calls from my previous customers via Halifax->ComputerRepair.com. There seems to be an extra middle man that adds no value.

Congrats on a great 2005!

Happy New Year to all the Clients and Providers!!

TSGA and pharmITech Ltd. had a GREAT year with CR.COM. We look forward to the New OnForce commitment and wish you all the success in the world!
December 30th, 2005 at 11:59 am
I was surprised as well to see the name change. I was happy to see the company just changed their name and wasn’t taken over by some huge outsourcing company. CR has done a great job in building this and I have been very pleased with the way things work. I too have a long, computer specific domain name, (LowcountryComputers.com) but for the search engine rankings and instant name recognition, I can’t afford to change it. It says where we are and what we do. I do like being able to type in a shorter domain, and I have registered GuruToMe.com to take care of that. I look forward to increasing success in the New Year with OnForce and I agree with the other posts, hopefully we can become a real force to be reckoned with.
May the OnForce be with you…
(I couldn’t resist…)

Congrats on a Great Year … and I LOVE the new Name .. There were a couple times when id show up to a customer site for a NEW installation and would say to the receptionist that Im from ComputerRepair.Com an they would say we dont have any broke computers. OnForce .. Has a good sound to it ..
My company name “SecondRing Computer Services” .. initially was for my BBS System back in the day. SecondRing referred to the second ring on the Tree of Life ..where the everyday day to day things that people dousually fall within the first ring, but those who went above and beyond the norm to go that extra step fell into the “SECOND RING” well peope thought i was a NUT so they stopped calling. Anyway, later i would just tell people when asked what SecondRing meant, “My Computer just answers on the 2nd Ring.”
Good luck in the Future and lets ROCK 2006 as well..
Take care,

Well, I am one of those companies that have issues with CLIENTS complaining that all CR was just for is fixing PC’s.
We do everything from replacing HARDDRIVES to Networking Routers for WIFI. I am happy to be part of CR because besides giving me business for the past 3 years they are been good people.
Everytime I have any issues with some of my Clients CR or OnFORCE have been there to resolve my issues.
SO GOOD JOB AND LOOK FORWARD FOR “06″ with OnFORCE

Great Year, like the new name. I just hope that people out there will stop taking low balled offers for service next year. Please remember that Onforce needs to get paid also, so you are really not getting paid what it says. Also take into consideration your commute time, gas, maintanance and other indirect cost factors. Stop giving away the business, quite thinking about that old hourly job you used to have or still have, its not the same cost of doing business. Sorry for the grip, but lets start off 2006 right! Raise your standards and everyone elses! Best wishes for Onforce.
December 30th, 2005 at 4:00 pm
Great new look! Much more professional looking website even though the content virtually remains the same. I look forward to telling friends and coworkers that I do part-time work for OnForce rather than Computer Repair.Com. I always got some strange reactions from the name. I just hope if you ever go public with the business that you don’t forget your service providers since we are the “fuel” for your “fire”! Thanks for the opportunity in 2005, looking forward to 2006.
December 30th, 2005 at 5:19 pm
Personally, the name change was a little sad for me. I liked the name of CR and was used to the name, but I guess the powers that be have other plans.
Good luck to everyone – I hope you all have a profitable and educational year in ‘06 as we did in ‘05.

I agree with you. The new name does offer more flexibility in services offered. Thanks for a great year, we look forward to working with you next year. You have a great team there!

The new logo looks SO much more professional… an added touch to my website.
December 30th, 2005 at 11:08 pm
I too believe in the “ON” word! People are looking for more than just a Shade Tree Machanic. They want Pro’s. I found that they don’t mind paying for True Experience. The new name has just that … touch, feel, smell and taste of expertise! Like ME.
December 30th, 2005 at 11:47 pm
Good luck in 06! Get out there and hustle up tons of work!! LOL!
But, please God, change that green color! That’s just nasty!

I was only replying to a continued workorder when I saw the name change. it makes me happy to see a company making decisions that improve their apperance to the public. Although I only joined CR.com in 2005, I am looking forward to the benefits and extended workorder capabilities of 2006. As long as the company keeps up the good work, we will ensure that we uphold the companies name by providing excellent service along with all of the other ONFORCE/COMPUTERREPAIR techinicians….

I totally agree with the name change. I am glad you guys have such great vision. Believe it or not, you guys are changing the way people provide technical service whether it’s computer repair related or not. I have seen several companies that have been created around the platform. As for the ones that have already been in the business, they use ONFORCE to increase their profit margin. If you build it, they’ll come. I joined the platform not just because it was built, but because it was built well — the system works and with such great visioneers like you guys IT WILL CONTINUE TO WORK.
PS: It’s OK for now, but I think the logo could be better — one step at a time. This one is not attractive at all (green and black).
December 31st, 2005 at 3:26 am
Keep the computer-repair.com and just have it forward all the visitors. I’m sure you guys get alot of type-ins. Not to mention, Computer-Repair.com in google ratings is PERFECT for still drawing in traffic. Not like you’re ever going to end up with another good traffic name like that again. OnForce sounds too much like a temp firm.
December 31st, 2005 at 11:58 am
Congratulations on the name change! We had great years with computerrepair.com in 2004 and 2005, and look forward to another great year in 2006!

Great move guys. I have had many conversations with Todd Day expressing my gratitude towards CR. In the last quater alone we have received over $8400 in closed work order and we have over $8000 in work orders currently in progress.
CR has expanded our business so much that I had to hire two new techs and move in to a bigger office.
I can only imagin what 2006 will bring. Good Luck and keep up the great work.

Everyone above has made glowing remarks so it hard to find the words to say anything better about the NAME change. 2005 was a great year form me as well and I see it getting even better in 2006. Like some of the others above it has gotten so good I’ve had to hire more staff. And with the way things are going this is starting out as a great year to come. I can think of no better name myself than the one you chose. OnForce is perfect for what we all do. And your right we do more than just fix computers and technology. We make the technology function and preform for the clients.

Bad idea, It will take 30 minutes to get new clients to understand that your providers did fix computer and other setups, I have a sign in my store “Computer Repair” and people see it and enter, Before I had “Techs 4 you” and nobody but my friends enter. CR was perfect why did they change it?, read Godaddy’s blogs, when godaddy tried to do tax returns.
January 2nd, 2006 at 1:39 pm
Great name, but what about something really catchy, like CRonster? Just kidding. Best of luck in 2006
January 2nd, 2006 at 2:31 pm
Well, I don’t know. It sounds to me like now your going to have to spend 15 minutes telling your old clients that “OnForce” means ON site, ON your terms, ON everything IT. I suppose all the good mames you might have used have been taken, something like “IT Professionals” or “One Stop IT” might have served you better.
January 3rd, 2006 at 8:05 am
Think it will take some time for people to aclimate to the new name but it will still be the same great providers
January 3rd, 2006 at 10:24 am
well it sound good
January 3rd, 2006 at 10:43 am
I really like the name change I just hope the quality of the company does not I have had a great experience with ComputerRepair.com and I hope the same will happen with OnForce … profitable new year to US ALL
January 3rd, 2006 at 12:08 pm
Personally I don’t like the name change, I hope it works for the best. Like they stated that they put time and money in the CR name why change it now? Because some idiots cant spell computerrepair or are too lazy to do so. Whichever the case might be, good luck to all.
January 3rd, 2006 at 3:59 pm
Well, I actually think the old name was a more accurate description of the services provided. OnForce reminds me of something that would have been created during the dot boom phase: a meaningless high tech name. Never the less, I wish the company much continued success.
January 4th, 2006 at 10:33 am
I think computerrepair.com was a better name with meaning. I don’t hate the new name either.I hope 2006 will be a better year for all of us.

January 4th, 2006 at 2:35 pm
You can’t argue with a good thing now can u. ok i can accept OnForce instead of ComputerRepair but why not just run BOTH simultaniously and put the more advanced tech’s who can do the alternate work in a higher league?
AND you could subdomain CR out like CList!!!
boston.ma.computerrepair.com
January 4th, 2006 at 7:57 pm
Please stop taking low ball work orders. Are you too geeky that you dont know what your time is worth? Who needs to get paid? How do you make a descent living? You taking low offers effects others and not just yourself.
Lets see, you take a $50 repair order. It takes you 2 1/2 hours to do the work, plus commute time, gas. How much does CR/OnForce get? How much is Gas? How much is your time? Great you made $30, good job you made less than $15hr and you havent even paid taxes. What about other indirect expenses? Car Repair? You geeks are really smart! How do you survive. You take 2 of those a day and your making nothing, go get an hourly job because your wasting your time and the living of others.
Step up the standards out there people, your giving away the business!
No wonder the Indians are taking our jobs!
Step up your business! Start 2006 off right!

January 5th, 2006 at 11:31 am
Can I Have the Computerrepair.com Name For myself since you don’t want it any more? I’ll take good care of it, I promise!!
Look, I’m going to Roll out, Complete Workorders, and generate satisfied customers & end users no matter what Name you have.
There is no better name than Computerrepair.com to quickly tell the public what you are about at a glance. Onforce is a professional sounding name, but, the name dosen’t tell the public what you do at a glance.
IMHO I think you should consider running both names concurrently and maximize the benefits of each.

What’s in a name? In this case, a lot more than was in your original name! At Midwest Computer Solutions (Midwestcompsol.net) we’ve tried to pack a lot into our name as well. We loved being part of the ComputerRepair.com deployable force, and look forward to being part of the OnForce.com team as well.

A great company deserves a great name. Congratulations.
January 11th, 2006 at 11:17 pm
I always though about this when I heard of ComputerRepair.com, when I heard the scope of work was much broader I wondered what would people think.
This is a good marketting strategy by the company. Of course it will be hard to do a switch like this but for a company this great it won’t be much of a hassle.
Some day I will have to make a name change for my company too; it sounds like a cell phone company!!! BUT ALL THE DOMAINS ARE TAKEN!!!
I have noticed in the last few weeks my work order notifications have increased, too bad I’ve been busy with the holidays, but I’ll catch up!!!
Have a great 2006!!!

I now like the name better too, it is alot easier to tell someone “Onforce” rather than “Computer Repair, yes it’s computer repair but the company is Computer Repair, dot com”. I’m not too crazy about the green either, but it’s growing on me.

i agree a name change is a good thing , i hope it does well as we all want to make a dollar. and i also agree with some of the comments that some of the work orders are low balled and we shouldn’t accept them with the price of gas. but you know durring the slow times when i havent had a work order in a while , some money is better than no money, on-force should make sure they take care of the techs , and cut them a break on the low work order fees as without the techs they would have nothing to market. so here it is onforce , i will only take low balled w/o when i’m broke. but remember your not gaining my respect and that when i’m working for peanuts i’m also seaking the full time position that will cause me not to be available for your better jobs. You have a good network , and i do appreciate the work but last week i had three decent work orders and this week none, hope next week is better for the rural people.

name change is a pretty nice to do especially if it is proceeded with good thinking and great innovations
February 17th, 2006 at 5:32 pm
Well put.
I agree on all points made. I too had a hard time with the Computer Repair name. No credibility to corporate accounts.
March 23rd, 2006 at 2:28 am
I do not like the new name. It is not something I would like to repeat.
It does not make any sense. It sounds more like a name for a movie.
I would recommend changing the name again.
The old name was kind of silly but spoke volumes. The new name makes no sense at all.
April 12th, 2006 at 5:10 pm
I have been with Computer Repair/Onforce since almost the beginning. Clients are looking for hard working Technicians and ONFORCE gives them what they are looking for.
April 26th, 2006 at 7:22 am
“A rose by any other name is still a rose”, did somebody important say that?
What the end user wants is their equipment up and running and in as little time as possible. What the tech wants is a steady flow of well paying work orders. What the client wants is a low paid but competent workforce. What OnForce wants is to give everybody what they want.
Sure I would like to make more money per call and when I see that I am going to lose money I reject the call or ask for an increase. I also look for opportunities to double up with other service calls from other companies. I might be going to a city for another company and an OnForce call comes in that pays $40 and I say “since I’m going to be there anyway, why not.”
I am seeing a “dog fight” over calls when they are issued. I have the OnForce calls routed to my cellular so I can get the jump on other techs in my area. There seems to be more and more competition for the calls. This will drive the price structure down.
OnForce calls, for me, is a suppliment to my revenue rather than my main revenue stream. I have many other similar companies that I do similar work for and when combined they prove to be a worthwhile effort.
I wish OnForce the best of luck in being a service provider for some of the major companies but most of all I wish each technician, who is struggling to make ends meet, a profitable and productive life.

Well, there seem to be some disgruntilled techs out there who seem to think that OnForce is responsible for the price structure of the work orders. The work orders are directly based on what the OnForce Clients are willing to pay for the job. OnForce isn’t responsible for the price structures. If they had actually worked with these clients and their support services they would know that. Good techs get certifications and reviews based on the End Users and Clients results from the work preformed and the functioning of the equipment repaired or installed.
Do a good job and inform the client of problems that you incurred and things that were unexpected and I’m sure the client’s IT support team will recommend an increase in the work order fee.
It’s the Clients we are trying to please, not OnForce here. If you do your job and do it well as you grow you will see more work and more money.
I started with CR in 2004 and true it was slow at first and the work orders wouldn’t feed me if I depended on it. But that’s how it is with any new venture you start. You have to build recognition and quality of service with each job you do. And you do need to be connected and ready for the next work order that gets posted.
In Tennessee there are a lot of good Techs, but we also have to contend with the newbies who jump onboard and can afford to wait it out. It would be great if the day you signed up you had 5 work orders, but you have to realize there are over 13500 Techs on this platform now and it goes up and down daily. Also we have new clients coming on board because of the promotional efforts of the OnForce Team that support this platform. And in My opinion the are doing a great job. Their also there to help us with issues with the clients that don’t want to pay us or try to give us a hard time.
So, the OnForce name does match what the company does. No Ifs, Ands or Buts about.
Now that’s just my opinion, and I have been wrong, but very seldom.
